Jonathan Emerson Kohler, M.D.
Dr. Kohler is a resident in General Surgery. He graduated with honors from Brown University and the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, and holds an MA in Health Communications from Emerson College. He has extensive training and work experience in scriptwriting, journalism, and film and theatre production. Most recently, his film "Waiting to Exhale" won a jury award at the Dartmouth Clinical Microsystems Film Festival, while his role as a psychopathic office geek in the award-winning independent short "The Memoirs of Don Walker" garnered praise at film festivals in New York and Los Angeles. His play, "Out of Body," (pdf) was a finalist for the 2005 Heideman Award, and his short story, "Burn In," (pdf) recently won an Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Essay Award. His scientific articles have been featured in the American Journal of Physiology and Science, among others. Jonathan recently lead RxCreative's medical advising team for the 2009 pilot "Maggie Hill" (20th Century Fox/Imagine Television).
David M. Weld, Ph.D.
Dr. Weld is a postdoctoral fellow in the physics department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently working on simulation of quantum magentism using ultracold trapped atoms. He graduated from Harvard University (phi beta kappa, magna cum laude) and earned a Ph.D. in physics from Stanford University. He has worked as a film reviewer, editor, and columnist for several publications. Both at work and in his spare time, he has accumulated long experience giving presentations and demonstrations on scientific topics, for audiences from elementary school students to Nobel laureates.
Alexander Langerman, M.D.
Dr. Langerman is a chief resident in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Chicago. He has extensive experience with in internet-based healthcare communications, developing clinical websites for both the University of Chicago and Northwestern University, and was part of the inaugural eHeath Ethics Initiative. Dr. Langerman's principal research focuses on cancers of the head and neck, he has authored numerous clinical and scientific publications in the fields of immunology, molecular biology, pathology, and surgery, and has presented his research to national and international audiences. His most recent passion is developing humanitarian medical efforts in both the Dominican Republic and Tanzania.
Aaron Bernstein, M.D.
Dr. Bernstein is a practicing pediatric hospitalist at Children's Hospital Boston. He is co-author and co-editor of the critically-acclaimed book Sustaining Life: How Human Health Depends on Biodiversity, published by Oxford University Press in June 2008. He is currently a Zuckerman Fellow at the Harvard School of Public Health and a researcher at the Center for Health and the Global Environment at Harvard Medical School, where he examines the effects of global environmental change, especially climate change and biodiversity loss, on human health.
